−98%
fewer database round trips
PER-RECORD OPERATIONS → BATCHED TRANSACTIONS
01The challenge
A B2B eSIM distribution platform processed high volumes of records with an individual database operation for each record. The resulting round trips created a critical bottleneck and timeout failures under load.
02The approach
Identified the per-record database access pattern and refactored the processing into batched transactions. The surrounding TypeScript and Node.js system uses PostgreSQL, Prisma, Redis caching, and Bull queues for background processing.
03The result
Approximately 98% fewer database round trips, eliminating timeout failures under load. A targeted change to the data access pattern removed the bottleneck without a wholesale rewrite of the platform.
